We grow grapes from Modra honestly and without unnecessary intervention. For us, origin is the basis of quality.

We produce wine with minimal intervention, without chemicals, to bring out the pure taste and character of the terroir.

Our wines have twice won the title "Best Wine From Slovakia" in Lyon France and have made it to the National Wine Salon of Slovak Republic and to the list of the 1000 best wines in the world in Paris Vins du Monde.

DSC® Certified

Districtus Slovakia Controllatus (DSC) is the designation of the highest quality category of Slovak wines.

It is a synonym for wine with a protected designation of origin (CHOP), which is officially recognised within the European Union.

DSC wines come from a precisely defined wine-growing area, are produced from 100% Slovak grapes and are subject to strict quality and origin control.

Each wine must meet both legislative and sensory requirements.

The DSC label is a guarantee of authenticity, origin and premium quality of the wine.

DSC in Slovakia is as AOC in France or DOC in Italy.

In our family, we have been involved in viticulture for 3 generations, and this is also reflected in the in the quality of our wines.

Since 1989, we have been producing top wines, directly from Modra, where we come from and where we have vineyards.

We produce wine naturally without the use of chemicals. We grow grapes in a gentle way. We are planting new vineyards. We produce low-histamine wines.

Who we are?

Vino Ludvik is a family winery of Ing. Ludovít Žofiak, est.1989 with its own vineyards in Modra. Wines from our production are designed for people who are looking for quality. We produce wines mainly from self-grown grapes in Modra, in the Small Carpathian wine region.

Our vineyards are located on the warm southeastern slopes of the Small Carpathians, in stony, loamy-sandy and loamy soil, with a great need for year-round manual and laborious work. We plant and renew vineyards. We grow grapes in a gentle way. We produce modern wines with varietal character, in the highest category DSC, Protected Designation of Origin.

We won a number of gold medals, we got into the National Salon of Wines of the Slovak Republic, to the list of the 1000 best wines in the world in Paris Vins du Monde and in 2022 we received the highest award "Best Wine from Slovakia" at the international wine show in Lyon, France for the Grüner Veltliner Barrique with 95 points. We do not sell our wines in supermarkets, only in wine shops and restaurants. Our wines can not be bought in barrel state, but only bottled.
